Wednesday Ministries will return this fall on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month, beginning October 14. This year, however, Wednesday evenings may look a little different than in the past. Rather than following the same format every time, we hope to make these gatherings flexible, welcoming, and shaped by the interests of our congregation. Dinner may sometimes be a potluck, and instead of traditional worship, an evening might feature a guest speaker, special program, hands-on activity, music, service project, or community event. Pianist Carolyn Carver will also be available to entertain us.
This is where we need your help! Do you know someone who would make an interesting guest speaker? Is there a topic you have always wanted to learn more about? Is there an activity you think would bring people together? We would love to hear your ideas.
Possibilities might include a local historian or storyteller, a presentation from a community organization, a hymn sing, a seasonal craft or service project, a discussion about faith and current life, or a game or bingo night. And don’t feel limited by this list—out-of-the-box ideas are especially welcome!
Our first two gatherings are already planned.
October 14 — Sing a New Song! The Worship Committee will host the evening. Join us for potluck at 5:30pm followed by a time of test driving some music from our new hymnals at 6:00.
October 28 — Supper & Bingo Night: The Deacons will host an evening of soup, fellowship, and bingo, from 5:30-7:00.
Wednesday Ministries has always been about fellowship, learning, faith, and community. This fall, we hope to build on that tradition while trying some new things along the way.
